In 2024, I opened a cozy studio in West Branch, Iowa, where we poured candles, arranged dried florals, and even practiced yoga in the nearby National State Park.
Over the past three years, I’ve had the joy of connecting with thousands of people through creative classes and the signature workshop lovingly called Candle Pour Bar.
This year, I felt a deep pull to return to my roots in yoga and leadership education—because now more than ever, we need spaces that nurture self-awareness, growth, and compassion. I’m spending time in more education and training, and offering a free summer yoga series in West Branch!
When I’m not hosting a Tura Lura Co. event, you’ll find me working and teaching at the University of Iowa, volunteering in Iowa City, or adventuring with my kids in tow.
Let’s create something beautiful together.

Hi, I’m Erika—the artist, educator, and heart behind Tura Lura Co.
As a lifelong creator and teacher, I’ve always been driven by curiosity, connection, and the joy of sharing what I learn. During the quiet, isolating days of the pandemic, I found comfort in making candles and working with concrete. That creative spark, combined with the support of an artist grant, led to the birth of Tura Lura Co.
What began as a personal practice quickly grew into a community movement. I’ve spent over 20 years teaching movement, a decade leading college-level leadership courses, and since 2022 I’ve been guiding candle-making workshops that bring people together through hands-on creativity. Watching community blossom through shared experiences has been one of the most rewarding parts of this journey.
Hi, I’m Erika!
What does the name TURA LURA mean?
Tura Lura (pronounced Toorah-Loorah) is the name of an Irish Lullaby, and a link to my family. My grandmother sang the song Tura Lura to her girls, they sang it to their kids, and now I sing it to mine. The name is a reminder of all the women that paved the way for me, and how I hope to create space for others based in connection and love.
I am so over social media.
You too?
