I love when people stumble upon Tura Lura Co. and are surprised and delighted that we offer Candle Pour Bar to make your own candle, right here in West Branch, Iowa!
Close to Iowa City, Quad Cities, and Cedar Rapids, you can make a little day trip to join a creative class then explore everything our sweet historic town has to offer. From shopping, eating some great food, and exploring the National State Park, you can have the perfect experience in the cutest small town. It’s like a Hallmark Movie come to life on Main Street West Branch!
For two years, I popped up around Iowa hosting candle workshops and turning bars, wineries, and conference rooms into a little creative escape. It was a place to connect with others, learn a craft, and mostly have fun. I began the workshops when there wasn’t many in person events being offered locally, and now there are many to choose from. But Candle Pour Bar at Tura Lura Co. is going strong. The favorite thing I hear from folks after a class is “wow, that was much more fun than I expected”. And that fills my heart, because I want the creative classes offered to be a fun, shared experience that you can look back on with fond memories. And hopefully some good pictures!
I am still amazed that I get dedicate an entire space as a studio for creative hearts. That I get to be googled as “candle places near me” and the word of mouth is strong.
From the moment I stepped into the studio space, I imagined creating a beautiful, sunny place that you wanted to stay for awhile. It’s amazing how your daydreams can turn into reality.
The 23rd Friday Four

It’s June! Kindergarten let out this week, so I have a kiddo in tow and I am ready to share the 23rd Friday Four! This note is simply a weekly highlight from behind the scenes at Tura Lura Co.
Kick off to Summer is today and tomorrow in West Branch! Come drop in for open hours (no appointment needed) from 11am-6pm either day to make candles, reed diffusers, dried florals, or a special sip, snack, and craft with friendship bracelets! Plus for our seltzer enthusiasts, on Saturday from 2-6pm join in for a seltzer stroll around town. I’ll be serving up mimosa flavor samples, plus you can sign up for a raffle in store!
My 6 year old and I spent yesterday in West Branch, getting the studio ready for Kick Off to Summer! I blended some limited summer candles for folks browsing to buy in studio this weekend. Sage + Citronella is a great outdoor candle to keep the bugs away, and Herb Garden is a fresh scent to bring the outdoors in! These are not going on the website, so you got to swing by to smell! Plus I got to add some dried botanicals to the jars, so my creative heart is full from making with my little helper.
Our June 22 event Candle Pour Bar only has a few spots left in it! The next opportunity to gather for a class in the studio during June is on the 28th at 6pm for Pour + Restore (a version of Candle Pour Bar with gentle yoga class in the National State Park). I released the July class schedule this week if you like to plan ahead, and I am always happy to chat about hosting a summer private gathering at Tura Lura Co.
I got to publish some pictures from one of our recent Private Parties on a Facebook Album, and I am obsessed. Because this group of friends was vibrant and full of laughter, and you can see that shining through in their photos. We created candles and bud vases, had a little charcuterie and sips, and strolled Main Street in West Branch. I love that this studio space has turned into the perfect cozy spot and creative destination. To be honest, I tend to forget to take pictures in the moments of our gatherings, because I am in the moment! And, I am trying to take more pictures to keep those memories strong.
